Banks to remain closed on Sunday in some areas

Elections to the Tangail-7 constituency of the Jatiya Sangsad, Narayanganj City Corporation and 5 municipalities in different districts will be held next Sunday (January 16). On this occasion, all the branches and sub-branches of Scheduled Bank located in these election areas will remain closed on that day.

Bangladesh Bank's Department of Off-site Supervision (DOS) on Thursday (January 13th) issued a circular in this regard and sent it to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks. 

According to the Central Bank's directive, polling will be held on January 16 in Tangail-7 vacant constituency of Jatiya Sangsad, Narayanganj City Corporation and 5 municipalities (Banshkhali in Chattogram district, Noakhali in Noakhali district, Jhikargachha in Jashore district, Bagatipara in Natore district). 

On the day of polling, if there is any branch / sub-branch of the bank in any Installations in these election areas which is used as a polling station or for election activities, it will remain closed. Apart from this, it has been suggested that the voters working in the branches and sub-branches of your bank in the respective election areas be given the opportunity to exercise their voting right.
