International trade fair will be held at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal in compliance with health rules as the government has issued 11 directives and restrictions across the country from January 13.

As COVID infection is on the rise in the country including Omicron, government issued these directives. Abdul Latif Boxi, the senior information officer at the commerce ministry, said this on Tuesday morning.

He said that the educational institutions will be open in compliance with the health rules. The government's notification did not say whether the fair would be closed. The fair will be held in compliance with the hygiene rules.

Abdul Latif Boxi said that the number of stalls has been limited this year. There are all kinds of hygiene arrangements. The fair will be closed if the National Committee announces any closure.

A notification was issued by the Cabinet on Monday evening. The notification requested to comply with the decision of the inter-ministerial meeting to review the prevalence of the new variant of COVID, Omicron, and the transmission of the disease in the country, to keep the socio-economic condition of the country active and to take into account the overall situation.

On January 1, the Prime Minister inaugurated the 26th trade fair through a video conference from her official residence Ganobhabon. At the same time, the Prime Minister announced 'ICT Products and Services' as 'Product of the Year' of the year 2022 to encourage exports in line with the export policy.
