Int’l trade fair begins Jan 1, BRTC to ply bus services

The 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair is going to start from January 1 at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) at Purbachal in the capital. This year, there will be 30 BRTC buses for the first time for transportation.

Buses will run from the Kuril flyover area from 8 am to 10 pm throughout the month. Visitors will be able to travel in buses with a minimum fare of Tk 25.

This year, the fairgrounds will be decorated keeping in mind the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu, the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the development activities of the government.

Md. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, EPB Secretary and Director of the Trade Fair, said the fair is being organized keeping in mind the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu, Golden Jubilee of Independence and development activities of the government. This year, 10 mega projects will be prioritized as themes for the trade fair’s entry gate.  

There will be 225 to 230 stalls inside the auditorium and in front of the empty space. Inside the auditorium is a cafeteria of its own where 500 people can sit and eat together. Besides, there will be 12-13 more stalls, he added.

About launching the bus, Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said, “BRTC has given us verbal approval to launch shuttle service from the Kuril flyover to the trade fare place. A total of 30 buses will ply on both sides of the road for 15 days ‍at a minimum rate of Tk 20-25. Besides, the entry tickets for the fare have been kept at Tk 40.
