‘Free movement’ of speedboats amid strict lockdown

People of different ages have come to the Patharghata city from far and wide, including villages, for a piece of meat.

Today (Wednesday, July 28) has marked the 6th day of the government-announced strict lockdown to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak. Despite the strict efforts of the administration and law enforcement agencies across the country to implement the government directives, a different image has been seen in Laharhat of Barishal.

A rickshaw puller named Md. Abu Taher was killed after being crushed by a tree due to the impact of Cyclone Yaas in Bhola, Barishal.

Bank official Ziaul Hasan tied an oxygen cylinder on his back and took his mother to the hospital on a motorcycle as he could not get any vehicle or ambulance due to the lockdown. After six days of treatment, he took his mother home on that motorcycle in good health. Now that Ziaul Hasan has been tested positive for the virus.

Char Kajal and Char Biswas unions in Patuakhali’s Galachipa Upazila will get the benefit of the electricity for the first time on June 10. Lakhs of people from these two unions are preparing to celebrate the day with colorful posters and festoons. 

Due to the effect of cyclone Yaas, water has flowed in the rivers of Pirojpur above the danger level of 10 cm, as a result, about 100 villages have been inundated by the tidal waters of Kacha, Sandhya, Baleshwar and Kaliganga rivers in the district.
