A passenger trawler capsized after being hit by a bulkhead in Dhaleswari River near Baktabali Ferry Ghat in Fatulla, Narayanganj.

This incident happened on Thursday (August 12) at 3:30 pm.

However, no passenger has gone missing. All 21 passengers in the trawler were able to swim ashore, they claimed.

Trawler driver Amjad Hossain said he was crossing the river with at least 20 to 21 different small traders from the ghat on the other side of Baktabali. After a while, he went to collect fares from passengers by giving control of the trawler’s helm to a passenger named Ali Mia. When the trawler almost reached the ghat, a Munshiganj-bound bulkhead from Dhaka hit the trawler, at that time, in the middle of the river. “I heard all the passengers swam ashore,” he added.

“I know everyone who was in the trawler and saw them swim ashore,” said trawler passenger Ramzan Mia.

Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Abdullah Al Arefin said their two teams are searching the river. None has claimed missing till now. They are still searching the river.
