Robbery, rape in moving bus: Cops seek remand for 10 robbers

10 robbers arrested by RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) in connection with the robbery and gang rape on a moving bus in Tangail will be brought to court today, Tuesday (August 9).
They were brought from Dhaka to Tangail through tight security on Monday night. They are currently in the custody of the District DB Police.
Confirming the matter, District DB Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) (North) Sajjad Hossain said the 10 accused were brought to the DB office from Dhaka on Monday night. They will be sent to court anytime today. “A remand may be sought,” he also said.
Noted RAB has arrested 10 members of the dacoit gang, including the mastermind of the robbery, in connection with a robbery, dressed as passengers, and gang-rape a woman in a night coach named Eagle Paribahan in Tangail’s Madhupur. They were arrested in a raid on a tip-off in Dhaka, Gazipur and Sirajganj areas on Sunday night.
Earlier, in the incident, Tangail district DB police arrested Raja Mia, the mastermind of the robbery, from the new bus terminal area in Tangail city on Thursday morning. The next day, police arrested two more people named Md. Awal and Noor Nabi from Kaliakair and Shohag Polli in Gazipur on Friday morning.
All the accused gave a confessional statement in court. Currently, the three are in jail.
