16 lakh Indian sarees seized in Feni, 4 arrested

Detective Branch (DB) of Police has seized Indian sarees and lehengas worth around TK 16 lakh in fornt of Feni Polytechnic Institute on Feni-Chagalnaya road. In this incident, four people including UP members have been arrested on Sunday morning.
The arrested are member of Mokamiya East Madhugram Ward of Radhanagar UP Anwar Hossain Abhi son of deceased Shariat Uliah, his associate Noor Alam Tushar Chowdhury is the son of Azizul Haque Chowdhury of the same area, covered van driver Shahadat Hossain is the son of Abul Bashar of the same area and Abdul Halim is the son of Abu Taher of South Andhar Manik area.
District Intelligence Police SI Sohel Kamal filed a case at the police station as the plaintiff.
Feni District DB Police Inspector Shah Md. Faisal Ahmed said that a team of DB police stationed itself in front of Feni Polytechnic Institute on Sunday morning based on secret information. At that time, when the suspect stopped a white colored covered van and searched it, 515 Indian sarees worth Tk 8,10,000 and 270 lehengas worth Tk 7,12,000 were rescued.
During the initial interrogation, they said that Jahangir Alam, son of Nur Alam of Mokamiya area and Munna, son of Abdul Majid of Satkania area of Chittagong, collected Indian cloth from the border area. They illegally evaded customs and sold them in different places in Feni city and Chattogram.
