2 get life term for snatching in Cox`s Bazar

A local court today sentenced two people to life imprisonment in a robbery case in Cox's Bazar. At the same time, another accused has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

Cox's Bazar Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdullah Al Mamun handed down the verdict on Thursday afternoon.

The convicts are Abu Siddique, 35, son of Abul Kalam of ABC Ghona in Cox's Bazar, and Monir Alam, 20, son of Mamtaz of Gazi Dale in Khurushkul of Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila.

The accused who was sentenced to 10 years in jail is Selim Prakash Putu (20), son of Sayedul Amin of Taitiya village of Khurushkul Union of Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila.

According to court sources, two accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment and another to 10 years imprisonment in the case filed for snatching a knife on the circuit house road in Cox's Bazar town. At the same time, each of the convicts sentenced to life imprisonment has been fined Tk 50,000, in default, they will have to serve another year of imprisonment.

On the other hand, the convict who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment has been fined Tk 10,000, in default, he will have to serve another 6 months imprisonment.
