A bus has damaged the barrier of the Padma Bridge toll plaza booth at Jajira point. A bus named 'Shariatpur Paribahan' hit the toll plaza around 10 am on Tuesday. Officers in charge of the toll plaza stopped the bus at first but later released it.
Officials of the toll plaza on the Jajira end said that the Dhaka-bound Shariatpur Paribahan bus came around 10 am. The driver of the bus is Md. Rana.
The driver runs the bus quickly without taking the toll receipt. Then the barrier of booth number 3 was hit hard leaving the pipe of that barrier became curved. The officers on duty there stopped the bus for a while. The bus was later released keeping the driver's driving license.
Shariatpur Paribahan director Arshaduzzaman Ershad said, "I still can't say what happened at the toll plaza on the Jajira point of the Padma Bridge."
Kamal Hossain, toll manager at Jajira, said that after paying the toll at booth No. 3 of Toll Plaza, the driver of a bus named Shariatpur Paribahan sped off without getting the receipt printed and hit the barrier of the booth No-3 leaving the pipe damaged.
Padma South Police Station OC Sheikh Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman said, "I have received news that a passenger bus at the Jazira Toll Plaza end has hit a barrier in the booth. No legal action was taken. Because no written complaint was received."
