3 killed in Cox’s Bazar lightning strikes

Three people have been killed and two others injured in separate lightning strikes in Kutubdia and Pekua of Cox's Bazar on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Md Imtiaz, son of Jaker Ullah, and Md Karim son of Md Saber of Dhurung Chacha area of South Dhurung UP of Kutubdia Upazila; and Mohammad Ali son of Ali Hossain of Saratghona area of Magnama UP of Pekua Upazila. 

The injured are Ramiz and Akkas, sons of Zaker Ullah of Chullarpara area of ​​Uttar Dhurung UP in Kutubdia Upazila.

Kutubdia police OC Md Omar Haider said four people were injured in a lightning strike while repairing a boat. Later, they were brought to Kutubdia Hospital, where the doctor declared two of them dead. Two others are undergoing treatment in the incident.

Pekua Police Station OC Farhad Ali said one person was killed in the lightning strike. His body has been handed over to his relatives.
