Flood: Bodies of 2 missing recovered after 13 hrs

The bodies of two people have been recovered 13 hours after they went missing in flood waters at Jhenaigati in Sherpur. The bodies of the two were recovered from separate places around 6:00 am on Saturday (June 18).
The deceased were identified as farmer Ashraf Ali, 60, son of late Nafaz Uddin of Bairagipara village under Sadar union and mason Abul Kalam, 33, son of Sheikh Quader Ali of Bagervita village under Dhanshail union.
Local UP member Md Rakib Badsha said Ashraf Ali went missing after inadvertently falling into the flood waters around 5:00 pm on Friday. Later, the locals spotted his body floating in the water and rescued it at around 6:00 am on Saturday.
On the other hand, Dhanshail Union Parishad chairman Md Shafiqul Islam said that Abul Kalam went missing in the flood waters around 5:30 pm while trying to catch a duck. Relatives spotted his body floating in the water of the Beel in Bagervita area around 6:00 am on Saturday.
Earlier, locals, including fire service personnel and family members, launched an operation to rescue the missing persons on Friday. However, the rescue operation was suspended as the missing persons were not found till 8:00 pm.
Jhenaigati Police Station SI Abdur Razzak confirmed the rescue of the two bodies. He said necessary legal action is being taken in the incidents.
