Sitakunda depot explosion: Another fire service man dies

Another member of the Fire Service and Civil Defense died in a fire and explosion at the BM container depot in Chattogram's Sitakunda. With this, the death toll in the explosion has risen to 47.
The man named Gausul Azam died in the early hours of Sunday (June 12) while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
In the morning, Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Resident Surgeon Dr Ayub Hossain confirmed the information, saying, "Gausul Azam, a member of the fire service, died this morning (Sunday) while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. Seventy percent of his body was burnt."
A fire broke out at BM Container Depot in Sitakunda on June 4 (Saturday) around 9:30 pm. Before the death of Gausul Azam, the district administration reported 46 deaths in the incident. Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) authorities said that out of 46 deceased, 27 have been identified. These bodies have been handed over to their families. However, the identities of 19 people have not been identified yet.
Among the injured in the fire at the depot, 99 are still undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Besides, many are admitted in Anderkilla General Hospital, Agrabad Maternal and Child Hospital, Parkview Hospital and Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka. The condition of some of them is critical.
