The fire at BM Container Depot in Sitakunda, Chattoogram has not been brought under control even after 60 hours. Fire is still burning in some containers.
Fire service officials said the operation would start to find the missing after the fire was brought under control. However, there are doubts as to whether the body will be found there or not.
It was seen on the spot around 9:00 am on Tuesday that five units of the fire service were working to control the fire. Four chemical containers have been removed to a safe place. However, the fire service says that even if the containers are removed, there is a risk of exploding these containers later. After extinguishing the fire, the expert unit of the fire service will work with the container containing the chemicals.
In this regard, the Assistant Director of Cumilla Fire Station, Md Akhtaruzzaman said, the containers that are now burning are not extinguished because they contain garments products.
However, he expressed hope that the fire would be brought under control by today. Once the fire is extinguished, rescue operations will be carried out by entering there directly, he added.
