The bodies of 22 victims of the fire tragedy at BM Container Depot in Chattogram's Sitakunda have so far been handed over to their families on Monday (June 6) morning.

At least 49 people have died in the incident. CID's forensic department has also started collecting DNA samples from relatives to ascertain the identities of the rest charred bodies.

The samples are being collected at the booth set up in front of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). A crowd of relatives of the victims has been seen there since morning.

Additional SP of Chattogram CID Jahangir Alam is leading the sample collection. Samples have been collected from the missing person's parents, siblings, or any two of the children. The samples will be tested to whether they will match the bodies which could not be identified.

According to DNA collectors, it will take a month or more to get the DNA report.
