DNA samples will be collected on Monday to ascertain the identities of the charred bodies of victims of the fire tragedy at BM Container Depot in Chattogram's Sitakunda.

The bodies will be handed over to the relatives after DNA tests confirm their identities.

Booths have already been set up for collection of DNA samples. The booth has been set up in front of the emergency department of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) next to the help cell of the district administration in collaboration with the Chattogram district police.

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Md Mominur Rahman said that among the dead, 21 have been identified. Twelve of them have been handed over to their relatives till 10:00 pm on Sunday.

The DC also requested the family of the missing people to come to the CMCH booth instead of searching them in different places.

The district administration would pay Tk 50,000 to each family of the deceased for burial and Tk 25,000 to the injured, he added.
