Explosion at container depot: 5 firefighters dead

Five members of fire services were killed in a fire that broke out at a BM container depot in Sitakunda, Chattogram.
Brigadier General Md Main Uddin, the Director-General of Fire Service and Civil Defense, came up with the information during a press briefing at the scene on Sunday morning.
He said five firefighters were killed and 21 others were injured while trying to put out the blaze. Six of the injured have been released after first aid. The remaining 15 are undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
One of the dead firefighters was identified as Moniruzzaman (32), the son of Shamsul Haque of Nangalkot in Cumilla. His uncle Mir Hossain identified his body in the morgue of CMCH this morning. Moniruzzaman was working in Kumira Fire Service in Sitakunda.
Mir Hossain said, "On information, I came to the hospital and identified my nephew's body. He has a two-year-old daughter. Moniruzzaman is the younger son of my elder sister."
