Horrific explosion at BM Depot, call for blood donation

Hospital authorities and Red Crescent have urged blood donors to come forward to donate blood to the victims of the horrific explosion at the BM Container Depot in Sitakunda Upazila of Chattogram on Saturday night.
The Civil Surgeon of Chattogram urged all the doctors in the vicinity to rush to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Because a large number of doctors are needed to treat the injured.
It has been reported that the burn unit of the hospital is already full. One injured person after another is being brought to the hospital by ambulance, private car, CNG-run autorickshaw. The number of injured is expected to rise further.
The death toll from the horrific fire and explosion at the BM Container Depot has risen to 16.
The fire broke out at BM Container Limited in Shitalpur area around 9:00 pm on Saturday night (June 4). On information, three units of Kumira Fire Service rushed to the spot and started work to control the fire. Later, at around 11:45 pm, fire spread from one container to another. While the fire service men and container depot staff were trying to extinguish the fire, a huge explosion went off due to the chemical container.
