3 people get 6-yr jail each for cyber crimes in Bogura

The Cyber Crime Tribunal of Rajshahi today convicted three persons and sentenced them to six years of imprisonment on charges of their involvement in cyber crimes in Bogura district around three and half years back.

The court also fined Tk eight lakhs to each of the convicts, Shuvash Roy Kanok, Shihabur Rahman, and Ariful Islam Alif, all the residents of Bogura.

Rajshahi Divisional Cyber Tribunal Judge Ziaur Rahman found them guilty of the charges and handed down the verdict this noon. The convicts were present in the court dock during the time of pronouncing the verdict.  

Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Ismat Ara told the journalists that a case had been lodged with Bogura Sadar Police Station against them related to their involvement in cyber crimes on October 4, 2019.

Referring to the prosecution story, Ismat Ara said the three persons were found engaged in spreading obscene photos of a college girl in social media. Upon completion of investigation, police pressed charges against them.

After examining the recorded depositions of nine prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidences, the tribunal pronounced the verdict.
