Class-V schoolgirl found hanging in Rajbari

The hanging body of a class five schoolgirl has been recovered at Shirampur village in Jamalpur UP of Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari. The deceased was identified as Munni Akter.
The incident took place at noon on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Munni, daughter of farmer Zafar Mallik of Shirampur village of Jamalpur UP and a student of Betenga Government Primary School.
It is learned that Munni's father works in the fields and her mother goes to a local shop to pay the electricity bill. At that time Munni was playing with her younger brother. After a while, the children saw Munni hanging with a red scarf on the wall of the house. After hearing the screams of the children, the locals rescued her and took her to Baliakandi Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Baliakandi Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Nasir Uddin said Munni was brought to the hospital shortly after 1pm. She died at the hospital. The cause of her death could not be ascertained without an autopsy.
Superintendent of Police MM Shakiluzzaman said the girl was initially thought to have committed suicide. I heard the girl was mentally unbalanced. The body has been sent to the morgue of Rajbari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
