Security guard dead in gas cylinder blast

A security guard of a building has been burned to death in a fire that broke out following a gas cylinder blast in Feni.
The incident took place at Nayan Tower on Alimuddin Road in Feni municipal area around 11:30 pm on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Anisur Rahman, 58, resident of Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat district. He was the security guard of the building for five years.
Purnachandra Mritsuddi, deputy director of Feni Fire Service and Civil Defense, said a gas cylinder in the six-story building was exploded when Anisur was trying to light the gas burner for cooking around 11:00 pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
Feni Model Police Station OC Md Nizam Uddin confirmed the information and said that Anisul's body has been kept in the morgue of Feni 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy.
On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze. They also recovered the charred body of Anisur from the spot.
Police initially suspected that the explosion might have occurred due to leakage in the gas cylinder.
