The water level of Padma river in Rajbari point has suddenly increased abnormally which affected the Daulatdia ferry terminal in the district.
As a result of rising water, the pontoon of Ferry Ghat No. 4 and 5 of Daulatdia has been submerged which created a long traffic jam at the wharf.
Idris Ali, water gauge of Goaland Upazila, said that the water level of Padma has increased by 60 cm in the last 24 hours. If the water level rises in this way, terrible floods may occur.
Meanwhile, due to rising water, the platoon of Ferry Ghat No. 4 and 5 of Daulatdia was submerged and the ferry crossing was being disrupted.
BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat Manager Prafulla Chauhan said that Daulatdia Ghats 4 and 5 are currently closed due to rising water while ghat no. 3 and 7 are operational. There are 19 ferries plying this route. Even then, traffic jams have been created in the ghat area due to water rise.
