Lightning strike kills farmer in Sarishabari

A farmer was killed in a lightning strike at Sarishabari in Jamalpur. The incident took place at Chuniapatal village in Satpoya union of the upazila on Thursday night (May 19). 

The deceased was identified as Osman, son of late Abdur Rashid of the village. Sarisabari Upazila Health Complex on duty Dr. Tahmid Hasan confirmed the matter.

According to local and deceased family sources, farmer Osman and his cousin Abdul Motaleb were seriously injured in a thunderstorm on Thursday (May 19) at around 11pm while guarding a machine room next to their house. They were rescued in critical condition and taken to the Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared Osman dead, and injured Abdul Motaleb was treated locally.
