The probe report on the dismissal of Shafiqul Islam, a TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner), who fined three relatives of the Railway Minister for traveling on the train without tickets, has been submitted to the concerned officials. The report states that “TTE is completely innocent”.
The report was submitted to the office of Pakshi Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shahidul Islam on Monday.
Earlier, a three-member investigation committee was formed on May 7 to find out the real cause behind the incident.
The committee was headed by Pakshi Divisional Railway Assistant Transport Officer (ATO) Sajedul Islam and the other two members were Assistant Executive Engineer (AIN) Shipon Ali and Railway Security Force (ACRNB) Assistant Commandant Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal.
The investigation report was supposed to be submitted within two working days but was later extended for three more days. Though the report was scheduled to be submitted on Thursday, it was submitted on Monday after three days due to DRM being in Dhaka and a public holiday.
Earlier on May 8, TTE Shafiqul Islam of the Sundarbans Express train from Khulna to Dhaka was suspended for fining three passengers who went into the train without tickets in the name of relatives of the Railway Minister.
After the news was published in the media, Shahidul Islam, DRM of Pakshi Divisional Railway, withdrew the dismissal order of TTE Shafiqul Islam on May 8 at noon. At the same time, he expressed regret over the dismissal of Nasir Uddin, Commercial Officer (DCO) of Pakshi Divisional Railway.
