2 farmers killed in lightning strike while harvesting paddy

Two farmers were killed in a lightning strike while harvesting boro paddy in Porsha, Naogaon. The incident took place at Raghunathpur and West Duarpal paddy fields of the Upazila around 8:30 am on Friday. 

The deceased were identified as Nuh Sheikh, son of late Arshad Ali of West Raghunathpur Tektha village of the Upazila and Abu Sayem, son of Nuhul Islam Mistri of West Duarpal Islampur. 
According to local sources, Nuh Sheikh was harvesting Boro paddy at Raghunathpur field, while Samad at West Duarpal fields near Punarbhaba river around 8:30 am on Friday. They died on the spot after being struck by thunderstorm. Later other farmers in the field rescued their bodies.

On the other hand, two persons including a woman named Jahanara Begum of Bangalpara village were injured in the same thunderstorm at West Raghunathpur ground. They were later rescued and admitted to Porsha Upazila Health Complex.

Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahurul Haque confirmed the deaths of two people in the lightning strike.
