6 to die for killing child in Cox`s Bazar

Convicts were taken to court

A local court today sentenced six people to death in a case filed for killing child Ali Ullah Alo at Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. The two others have been acquitted in the case.

Cox's Bazar District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ismail pronounced the verdict on Wednesday afternoon.

The convicts are Sumon Ali, 26, son of Aftab Ali of Kodd Narayanpur of Mahadevpur upazila of Naogaon, Yasin alias Raihan, 29, son of Shamsul Haque of Nishchintpur upazila of Thakurgaon, Yakub, son of Aslam Miah of Sreepur of Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla, Ishaq alias Kalu, son of Atangali Hossain of Godar Bill village of Teknaf upazila  and Nazrul Islam, 28, son of Nabi Hossain of Maheshkhalia Para of the same upazila. Among them are three fugitives.

Ali Ullah Alo, 7, son of Abdullah of Godar Bila village of Teknaf Sadar Union was killed. 

In response to the verdict, the victim's father Abdullah said, "I am satisfied with this verdict." However, those who have been acquitted will take further action after receiving a copy of the verdict.

Giving details of the case, the court's PP Faridul Alam said that the accused demanded ransom after kidnapping child Alo. However, he was strangled to death on September 7, 2011, after not getting ransom. Alo was Class-1 student at Teknaf BGB school. A court on Wednesday sentenced six people to death in the case after 10 and a half years. Didar Mia and Muhibullah were acquitted as the allegations were not proved against them.
