15,000 liters of soybean oil have been recovered from two warehouses of a shop at Railway Bazar in Pahartali, Chattogram.

These bottles of oil were recovered at around 12 pm on Monday by the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), confirmed Anisur Rahman, assistant director of Chattogram DNCRP.

He said the Siraj Store in Pahartali Bazar “stocked a huge quantity of soybeans” before Eid. They keep these oils in warehouses without selling them to retailers. Later, they tried to sell at the current market price. During the drive, 15,000 liters of soybean oil were recovered from their two warehouses.

Chattogram DNCRP assistant director Md. Didar Ahmed said Siraj Saudagar, the owner of the warehouse, was making excuses for not having oil for so long. When consumers go to his shop, he says there is “no oil”. After the price increase, he started selling the old oils at the new price. He has not yet been fined for the incident. The campaign is ongoing. Details will be announced at the end of the campaign.
