Two killed in Pabna truck collision

At least two people were killed when a truck carrying watermelons hit a roadside tree while trying to save a motorcycle that had fallen on the road in Ishwardi, Pabna. 

Three more people were seriously injured in the incident. They are being treated at Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex. 

The incident took place at Chand Ali Intersection in Joynagar area of ​​Salimpur Union on Thursday (May 5) morning. 

The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan Bijoy, son of Sujan Hossain of Charmirkamari village in Salimpur union and helper of the truck. 

Ishwardi Fire Service Inspector Apu Kumar said a motorcycle fell on the road while overtaking a watermelon-laden truck at Chand Ali intersection on Lalanshah Bridge Road on the way to Dashuria from Kushtia in the morning. The truck collided with a roadside tree while trying to save the motorcycle. 

Moshiur Rahman, a doctor at Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, said two people were brought to the hospital in critical condition. Basically, they died before arrived at the hospital. Three injured people are being treated at the hospital. One of them is in critical condition. 

Ishwardi Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashish Kumar Shanyal said police were sent to the spot immediately after the incident and the body was recovered and brought to the outpost. Initially, the name of one person was known. Police are working to identify the other victim.
