Lightning kills 2 in Khansama

Two people were killed by lightning strike at Khansama in Dinajpur. The incident took place at Hossainpur village of Bherbheri union and Subarnokhuli village of Angarpara union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Shah Alam, 50, son of Osman Gani of Hossainpur village, and Majeda Begum, 40, wife of Fazlur Rahman of Subarnakhuli village.

Citing locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khansama Police Station Kamal Hossain said Shah Alam was working in the yard in the morning. Suddenly, he and his wife were struck by lightning. When the relatives rescued them and took them to the Upazila Health Complex, the doctor declared Shah Alam dead. His wife is being treated at the hospital.

At the same time, Majeda was struck by lightning while working in a field next to their house. When the locals rescued her and took her to the Upazila Health Complex, the doctor declared Majeda Begum dead. Two cows and a goat also died at the time.
