Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said silos were being distributed from house to house to save food grains for the day laborers who could not stay at home working in the fields during the day. Food grains can be stored during floods in Silo.

The minister further said that no air will enter it and can even be buried under the ground. It's a lot tougher and tested by BUET. It will not break or crack. If the farmers think that they will keep the seeds then there is no problem. About 5 lakh silos have been distributed so far.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a family silo distribution function organized by the upazila administration at Raninagar Upazila Parishad hall in Naogaon at 11am on Monday.

He said that villagers can store 40 kilograms of paddy, 56 kilograms of rice and 70 liters
of water in each of the silos safely during any disaster period.

Calling Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a symbol of humanity, the food minister said a group of people are not being allowed to treat Khaleda Zia today. But the government is providing good medical service to her at home. Where was humanity when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu was killed during the Ziaur Rahman rule? The killers were not brought to justice rather than they were allowed to flee the country.

Raninagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sushant Kumar Mahato presided over the function while local MP Anwar Hossain Helal, Regional Food Controller Faruk Hossain Patwari, Upazila Chairman Abdur Rauf Dulu and other Awami League leaders spoke.
