Narayanganj Textile factory fire under control

A fire that broke out at Jahin Textile at Madanpur area on Sonargaon Road in Narayanganj this afternoon has been brought under control. Sixteen units of fire service brought the blaze under control about four and a half hours efforts.

Shahjahan Sikder, an officer in charge of the media cell of the fire service and civil defense headquarters, confirmed the news around 9 pm on Friday.

Earlier, the fire service received the news of a fire at Jahin Garments at around 4.30 pm. The first unit arrives within 15 minutes. Then the number of units is increased one by one. In the end, 16 units were sent to the spot.

The fire also forced to suspend traffic on Dhaka-Chattagong highway which caused huge traffic jams, police said.

The fire spread rapidly from one building to another as there was a huge amount of yarn and cloth inside the factory.

The fire service said there were no workers inside as the factory was closed on Friday. No one was injured or trapped inside.

Fire service officer Shahjahan Sikder said the fire was brought under control at around 9 pm. I can't say the cause of the fire and the amount of damage. We have not received any reports of casualties, he concluded.
