A fire that broke out at Jahin Textile at Madanpur area on Sonargaon Road in Narayanganj this afternoon did not come under control in three hours. The fire is spreading rapidly from one building to another as there is a huge amount of yarn and cloth inside the factory.

Meanwhile, traffic on Dhaka-Chattagong highway was halted due to uncontrollable fire which caused huge traffic jams, police said. Responsible highway police members are working to reduce traffic congestion quickly.

The fire service said there were no workers inside as the factory was closed on Friday. No one was injured or trapped inside. About 16 units of the fire service have been trying to put out the blaze for two hours.

Mohammad Raihan Uddin, assistant director of the fire service headquarters, said the fire broke out at Jahin Textile at 4.30 pm. So far 16 units are working to douse the blaze. At first 10 units rushed to the spot. Later six more units joined them.
