Ice worth Tk 22.5 crore recovered from Teknaf

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have recovered more than 4 kgs of ice worth around Tk 22.5 crore from Jaliya Island area of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday morning.
50 thousand pieces of yaba were also recovered at the time. However, no one was arrested from the spot.
BGB-2 Battalion Captain Lt. Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar gave this information at a press conference in Teknaf. BGB-2 Battalion Deputy Commander Lt. M Muhtasim Billah Shakil was present at the time.
BGB commander Mohammad Iftekhar said two BGB patrols conducted an operation there on Wednesday morning after a large consignment of drugs from Myanmar crossed the Naf River into the Jaliya Island border. The BGB patrol team chased a boat as it crossed the zero line and entered the area. At that moment, the BGB patrol tried to stop the boat as it was approaching the Myanmar border. The smugglers jumped out of the boat into the Naf River and fled into Myanmar.
The BGB official said that after searching the boat, they found 4 kg 175 grams of crystal meth or ice. The estimated value of the rescued ice is Tk 22,37,50,000. A case is being processed at Teknaf Model Police Station for recovering crystal meth and yaba.
