Transport strike in Mymensingh called off

The transport strike in Mymensingh division demanding speedy road repairs from Gazipur's Salna to Tongi has been called off. Traffic services in the four districts resumed after the announcement of the strike called off.
The Mymensingh Chamber of Commerce and Industries and the District Motor Owners' Association came up with the announcement at a press conference at the Mymensingh Press Club auditorium around 11:00 am on Sunday.
President of District Motor Owners Association Md Mumtaz Uddin Monta read out a written statement at the press conference. It was informed in the written statement that the transport strike on the Mymensingh-Dhaka highway was called off following the request and assurance of the communications secretary and call for discussion with the Divisional Commissioner on January 26. The next move will be announced subject to discussion with the Divisional Commissioner of Mymensingh.
Secretary-General of Motor Owners Association Mahbubur Rahman, Vice President of Mymensingh Chamber of Commerce Shankar Saha, Secretary of Coach Department of District Motor Owners Association Somnath Saha and others were present at the press conference.
Earlier, the Mymensingh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mymensingh District Motor Owners' Association called the strike. They held a press conference on January 2 where they set an ultimatum until January 15 to solve the issues and end the suffering of the people. As per the decision, mass transports from Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur and Netrokona districts to Dhaka will not ply from Sunday.
