Ice worth Tk 12.5cr recovered in Teknaf

A huge amount of ice worth Tk 12.5 crore have been recovered in Cox’s Bazar. The Coast Guard recovered the ice from Teknaf.
This information was confirmed by the media officer of the Coast Guard headquarters Lt. Commander Abdur Rahman on Friday morning. He said that 2.5 kg ice worth Tk 12.5 crore was recovered from Dargarchora area ofthe upazila.
Earlier, on January 11, police and BGB recovered 2.5 kg of ice in Teknaf. Police detained a Rohingya woman at that time.
Lt. Col. Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, BGB-2 commander of Teknaf, said a BGB patrol team raided the beach in Noakhalipara area ofBaharchora union of the upazila, where a consignment of ice was being allegedly stored for smuggling. At one stage of the operation, the patrol team found a plastic bag under a tree and searched it and recovered two kilograms and 64 grams of ice.
On the same day, Teknaf Model Police raided a house in Pallanpara area ofthe municipality and arrested a Rohingya woman named Hasina Begum with 500 grams of ice. Detained woman is the wife of late Faruk of Ukhia Balukhali-18 Rohingya camp.
