Recovered dangerous drugs crystal meths worth Tk 10.32 crores

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered 2 kg 64 grams of crystal meths, worth Tk 10.32 crores, from a plastic bag at Teknaf beach in Cox’s Bazar.  

The crystal meths were recovered from Jhaubon beach near Noakhalipara Marine Drive in the upazila on Tuesday morning.

Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar informed this at a press conference in the conference room of Teknaf 2 BGB office.

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar said this dangerous drug called “Crystal Meth” has been “hidden for the purpose of smuggling” at Jhaubon beach near Noakhalipara Marine Drive in Teknaf. On a tip-off, a search was carried out and an “ownerless plastic bag was found lying under a tree” at Jhaubon. Later, 2 kg 64 gm crystal meth was found inside the bag. The value of which is approximate “10 crores 32 lakh takas”.

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar said the recovered crystal meth was kept in the battalion headquarters store. These drugs will be destroyed in the presence of senior officials, the Department of Narcotics Control, dignitaries and media personnel.

2 BGB Deputy Director Lieutenant Md. Muhtasim Billah Shakil were present at the time.
