Rohingya man detained with 60,000 yaba

A 23 years old Rohingya youth, Ekram Ullah, has been detained with 60,000 pieces of yaba from Teknaf, Cox's Bazar on Monday.
Police arrested him in a raid at Gulikkar Bridge area on Teknaf-Sabrang road around 10 pm. Ekram is the son of Abul Bashar, a resident of A/5 block of Leda 24 Rohingya camp in Teknaf.
Teknaf Model thana Police Officer in Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman said that Ekram was arrested in a raid at Gulikkar Bridge area on the basis of secret information. At that time 60 thousand yaba was recovered from him. The estimated market value of the recovered yaba is Tk one crore 80 lakhs.
Earlier, on the night of January 9, RAB had open fired on drug dealers in Balukhali of Ukhia upazila in Cox's Bazar. One Rohingya along with five lakh yaba was detained at that time.
Major Sheikh Yusuf Ahmed, CPC commander of RAB-15, said that RAB took position in Balukhali Bridge area on a news that a consignment of yaba would enter the country from Myanmar on Sunday night. At that time police saw a group of drug dealers coming and signaled to stop. However, the drug dealers fired at the RAB. Later, the drug dealers retreated when the RAB fired back in self-defense. Later, one person was arrested along with 5 lakh yaba.
