2 killed Gazipur train crashes

Two unidentified persons were killed in separate train accidents at Tongi in the Gazipur metropolis. Railway police recovered the bodies and sent them to Dhaka for autopsy.
Two accidents took place at Tongi’s Notun Bazar Gazibari around 10:30 pm and Madhumita Gate area around 12pm on Sunday. However, the police could not reveal the names of the victims.
Tongi Railway Police SI Nur Mohammad Khan said the Dhaka-bound Parabat Express from Sylhet was crossing Tongi’s new Bazar Gazibari area around 10:30 pm. At that time, a woman was hit by the train’s engine and was seriously injured. She died before locals rescued her and took her to the hospital. It is believed that the woman was walking along the railway line.
An unidentified man, on the other hand, was killed when another train hit him at the Madhumita Gate area around 12 pm.
SI Nur Mohammad Khan added that the woman’s body was recovered and sent to Dhaka for autopsy.
Earlier, an unidentified youth was killed when he was hit by a train at Arikhola railway station in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur. The accident took place around 7:30 am on Sunday, December 26, confirmed Station Master Fazlur Rahman Bhuiyan of Arikhola Railway Station.
Fazlur Rahman Bhuiyan said the Sylhet-bound Parabat Express train crossed the Arikhola railway station at around 7:30 am. After the train left, the locals informed that they saw the body of the unidentified youth lying on the railway line east of the platform. The body was later removed from the railway line and kept aside.
