4 dead after being hit by truck in Kushtia

Four people, including a van driver and two women, were killed after being hit by a truck at Kushtia Sadar Upazila. 

The accident took place around 5:30 am on Monday on Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway in front of Mandal Hotel in Bottoil Dakshinpara area of ​​the Upazila. 

The deceased have been identified as Muktar Hossain, 50, son of Hazel Hossain of Swastipur area of ​​Sadar Upazila, Jasmine, 30, wife of Azizul Haque of the same area, Rozina Khatun, 28, daughter of Bhadu Mollah of Haldarpara area of ​​Alampur and Swapna Rani, 45, wife of Monoranjan of Haldarpara.

Injured Tahmina Khatun, wife of Shariful of Baliapara village in Alampur Union, is undergoing treatment at Kushtia Sadar Hospital.

Confirming the information, Kushtia Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Idris Ali said a Jhenaidah-bound speeding truck leaving Kushtia hit a passenger van coming from the opposite direction, leaving four people dead on the spot. 

On information, police recovered the four bodies and sent these to Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital morgue. The truck was seized while the driver managed to flee the scene.
