Two youths have got lifeterm for the involvement in a drug case in Khulna. At the same time, they have been given one more year rigorous imprisonment for non-payment of fine of Tk 20,000.

Khulna Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge SM Ashikur Rahman pronounced the verdict on Sunday. Prosecutor Kazi Sabbir Ahmed confirmed the verdict.

The convicts are Sujan Kabir, son of Mubarak Hossain of Bagachra area of ​​Jessore district and Azizul Islam, son of Md. Ansar Ali of the same area. They are fugitives.

According to court sources, on the night of May 21, 2015, a speeding vehicle was passing a checkpost in front of the City Toll Plaza of Khanjahan Ali Police Station when police stopped it. As their behavior was suspicious at that time, the car was searched. Later, 232 bottles of Phensidyl were recovered from a specially made box next to the engine of the vehicle.

TSI M. Khairuzzaman filed a case with Khanjahan Ali Police Station that night. On August 17 of the same year, SI Biplob Kanti Das filed a chargesheet in the court mentioning the names of the two men. Seven people testified in the court.
