3 Hafiz-e-Quran dead in Bagerhat truck-Mahindra collision

Three Hafiz-e-Quran were killed and four other people injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a three-wheeler (Mahindra) at Fakirhat in Bagerhat. 

The accident took place in front of Shyambagat Munster Jhutmil on the Khulna-Mongla highway around 1:30 am on Sunday (January 9). 

The deceased were identified as Hafez Abdullah, Hafez Abdul Gafur and Hafez Salauddin. They are all students of Hakimpur Qawmi Madrasa in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. 

Maulana Abdul Mabud, Muhtamim of Hakimpur Madrasa, told media that after the International Kerat Conference held at Khulna Alia Kamil Madrasa, six Hafiz-e-Quran left Khulna for Madrasa on Mahindra. 

Due to dense fog, the Mahindra collided head-on with a truck, leaving the trio dead on the spot and four others including the Mahindra driver injured. Three of the injured have been shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital and one to Dhaka. 

Katakhali Highway Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Md Ali said that police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent it to the police station and the injured to the hospital. The truck driver fled the scene.
