31 tests COVID positive in Matarbari Coal Power Plant

At least 31 have been tested COVID positive in a coal power plant under construction at Matarbari in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar. 19 of them are Indian nationals.
One person was infected on Thursday and 18 on Friday. It is learned that 17 of the victims came from India three days ago.
According to the health department, corona of 28 out of 469 samples were identified COVID positive in Cox's Bazar on Thursday. Maheshkhali had 23 out of 27 candidates. The 23 identified in Maheshkhali are officials of the coal power plant under construction at Matarbari. Of these, 22 are foreigners.
Also on Friday, out of 575 samples, 16 people were infected with COVID in the district. 8 of them are working in Matarbari coal power plant. One of them is an Indian citizen. In the last two days, 19 out of 31 victims of Matarbari have been Indian nationals.
Maheshkhali Upazila Health Officer Mahfuzur Rahman has confirmed the matter. He said it could not be ascertained whether the victims had Omicron type in their bodies. Because Cox's Bazar does not have Omicron detection capability.
Cox's Bazar Medical College Assistant Professor, Clinical Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases Specialist Mohammad Shahjahan Nazir confirmed the matter, 'Since the genes of Omicron are different, genetic genes need to be analyzed. Genetic gene analysis is currently being done in Dhaka. Only common COVID patients are being identified at the district level.'
The victims are in quarantine at Matarbari. Also on the same day, five people from Cox's Bazar Sadar were tested positive.
