COVID cases leap nine times within week in Ctg

COVID infection has leaped to nine times in the last week in the port city of Chatttogram.

Besides, in the last 24 hours, 82 have been identified COVID infected in Chattogram in the last 24 hours. However, no one was killed at the time. Civil Surgeon Mohammad Elias Chowdhury confirmed the information on Friday morning.

He said that in the last 24 hours, samples of 1,857 people were tested in Chattogram University, BITID, Chattogram Medical College, Antigen Test, Imperial Hospital, Chevron Lab, Chattogram Maternal and Child Hospital, RTL, Epic Health Care, Chattogram Metropolitan Hospital, Asian Specialized Hospital and Shah Amanat International Airport. Among these, COVID virus was found in the bodies of 82 people.

According to the test, the detection rate is 4.41 percent. Which was 3.02 percent in the previous 24 hours. Among the victims, 64 are from the city, two from Hathazari, two from Mirsarai, one from Anwara, one from Potia, one from Boalkhali and one from Sandwip.

Earlier, the Civil Surgeon's Office had identified 53 people on Thursday, 53 on Wednesday, 35 on Tuesday, 23 on Monday, 16 on Sunday and nine on Saturday. In a word, the COVID detection in the district has increased nine times in a week.

According to the Civil Surgeon's Office, 1,02,904 people have been infected with COVID in Chattogram district so far with 74,504 people in the city and 28,400 people at the upazila level. Besides, one thousand 333 people died. Of these, 723 are from the city and 610 from the upazila.

On April 3, 2020, the first COVID patient was identified in Chattogram. Then on April 9, the first person died from the virus in the city.
