Child among 3 of a family killed in pickup-autorickshaw collision

Three members of the same family, including a child, were killed in a head-on collision between a pickup and an autorickshaw at Madhupur in Tangail. However, the identities of the dead were not immediately known.

The accident took place near Rupali Filling Station adjacent to the Madhupur Bus Stand on Madhupur-Jamalpur Regional Highway at around 7 am on Friday.

Confirming the matter, Madhupur police station acting OC (Officer-in-Charge) Md. Tarique Kamal said A Jamalpur-bound CNG-powered autorickshaw collided head-on with a Madhupur-bound pickup van. In this, three people, including a child and his mother, died on the spot. 

Two more were injured at the time. The injured were later rescued and admitted to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex, OC Md. Tarique Kamal added.

Earlier, two motorcyclists were killed when a truck crushed them at Chechua Shahargopinpur area on ​​Sagardighi Regional Highway in Ghatail Upazila of Tangail on Thursday evening.

The deceased were identified as Asadul Islam, a motorcyclist and son of Abdul Mannan of Sholakura Sagardighi village and Farid Uddin, son of Harun Munshi of Shahargopinpur village.

Ghatail police officer in charge (OC) Md. Azharul Islam confirmed the matter.

According to eyewitnesses and police, Asadul and Farid went on a motorcycle with the groom at a local neighbor’s wedding. On the way home after the invitation, a truck carrying parched rice collided head-on with their motorcycle at the Chechua area in Ghatail upazila in the evening.
