705 more Rohingyas on way to Bhasan Char

In the ninth phase, another 705 Rohingyas are being taken to Bhasan Char in Noakhali from different camps in Cox's Bazar. They have already headed to the destination today (January 6).

The Rohingyas were dispatched to Bhasan Char around 12:15 pm on Thursday. However, after being taken to Chattogram from Cox's Bazar on Wednesday, they were kept in a temporary camp.
 
According to the Public Relations Department of the Chattogram Navy, another 705 Rohingyas are being taken to Bhasan Char in Noakhali on Thursday in the ninth phase from various camps in Cox's Bazar.

The Rohingyas were taken to Ukhiya Degree College ground from several camps in Teknaf yesterday. After taking them to Chattogram by bus, they were kept in a temporary camp. Later they will be taken to Bhasan Char in three ships from Potenga Boat Club. One of them is carrying cargo and the other two are carrying 705 Rohingyas.

Earlier, 19,662 Rohingyas were shifted to Bhasanchar from different camps in Cox's Bazar in eight phases.

On December 4, 2020, in the first phase, 1,642 Rohingyas, including men, women and children, officially reached Bhasan Char. They were kept in clusters 7, 8, 9 and 10 prepared for Rohingyas. Among the Rohingyas who came to Bhasan Char in the first phase, there were 810 children, 368 males and 464 females.

Earlier, on April 19, 2019, the construction of a shelter at a cost of Tk 3,095 crore was completed for the relocation of Rohingyas in Bhasan Char, which was awakened on the banks of the Meghna River in Hatia.
