Two dead in Cumilla bus-autorickshaw collision

Two people were killed and three others injured when a BRTC bus hit a CNG-run autorickshaw at Laksam Upazila in Cumilla.
The accident took place around 7:30 am on Thursday (January 6) on the Comilla-Noakhali regional highway in the Kaliachou area of Laksam.
The deceased were identified as Bahar Mia, son of Siddiqur Rahman of Parati village under Lalmai Upazila of the district and an unidentified woman. The injured have been admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Confirming the information, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Laksam highway crossing police outpost Md Jasim Uddin said that a CNG-run autorickshaw collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound BRTC bus at Kaliachau area of Laksam Upazila on the Comilla-Noakhali regional highway around 7:30 am, leaving two people dead on the spot. Three more people were injured.
On information, the highway police rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and admitted them to Comilla Medical College Hospital. The body was recovered and brought to the police station, he added.
