Dinajpur Train-truck collision cuts rail communication

A collision between a train and a truck has closed the rail communication of Dinajpur with the country.
Four bogies of Dolonchapa Express train was derailed in a collision with a sand-laden drum truck at Parbatipur in Dinajpur. The incident took place at Joshoi Mor Railgate area adjacent to Manmothpur-Chirirbandar Outer Signal around 4am on Wednesday.
Abdullah Al Mokaram, an eyewitness and a member of the Railway Security Force on duty at the time of the accident, said that the train collided head-on with an empty Dolonchapa Express at around 4 am on its way to Dinajpur. A drum truck loaded with sand crashed on the railway line as the rail gate was left open. At that time the train came and collided. The train driver Abdur Rashid Sarkar was seriously injured in the incident.
He said four bogies of the train derailed. The guard brake (5305) attached to the engine flipped to the side from the rail line. Rail communication with Dinajpur has been cut off since this incident.
