The ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia naval route, which was closed for a long 8.5 hours due to heavy dense fog, have resumed.

The ferry service on this route started at around 10 am on Wednesday when the density of the fog in the Padma River was decreased.

Earlier on Tuesday, the BIWTC Ghat authorities halted the ferry service to avoid a boat accident due to the increase in fog in the Padma River from around 1:30 am.

Meanwhile, a long tail of 8.5 kms of traffic was created at Daulatdia and Goalanda junctions, waiting for the river crossing, due to the long stoppage of ferry services. At this time, the drivers and passengers suffered in severe winter.

BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat Manager Jalal Uddin said the ferry service has started at 10 am as the density of fog has reduced. When the ferry traffic is normal, the pressure of the vehicles will also come down. At present, 16 ferries are plying on this route.
