Man shot dead at in-law`s house in Bandarban

A man was shot dead by miscreants while visiting his father-in-law's house at Lama in Bandarban.
The incident took place at Athuimang Marmar's house in Anghla Para in Ruposhipara Union of the upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Mankyaching Marma. Monkyaching, 35, is a resident of Bangalkhali area of Rajostholi in Rangamati district. He has come to visit his father-in-law's house in Anghla Para.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Lama Thana Police Shahidul Islam Chowdhury confirmed the matter. He said police were sent to the spot just after knowing the matter.
Aungsing Marma, the brother-in-law of the deceased, said that the deceased Monkyching Marma came to visit their house around 7 pm on Monday. At 12:30 pm, six armed terrorists surrounded the house. They took everyone in the house hostage at gunpoint and shot his brother-in-law.
The terrorists fired three rounds and stabbed him to death. The terrorists had firearms and ropes in their hands. Her sister Mraboching Marma has psychologically gone unstable since the incident. She has been unconscious.
According to locals, the deceased Monkyaching Marma was an JSS activist in Bangalkhali area of Rajostholi upazila of Rangamati. The incident is believed to have taken place due to their personal conflict.
Angow Marma, a resident of Anghla Para, president of Lama Upazila JSS, said, 'I came to know about the incident at 2 pm. The farm house is 500 yards east of our neighborhood. Monkyching Marma is my niece's husband. The incident is believed to have taken place in a conflict of regional politics.
Local UP member Sitaronjon Barua said the incident was reported to the UP chairman and Lama police station. We do not know the cause of this murder.
Lama police officer in charge Shahidul Islam Chowdhury said that it is being investigated as to who killed the man. Attempts are being made to identify and arrest the culprits as well.
