Schoolgirl raped in Cox`s Bazar

This time, a schoolgirl has been revealed to be detained in a hotel and raped in Cox's Bazar.

It was learned that a class eight student was detained for two days and raped at a residential hotel named Mams in Kolatali of Cox's Bazar.

The student has filed a case against 5 people at Sadar police station. But a week after the case was registered, police could not arrest the accused. Moreover, the accused are threatening the family members of the victim.

The victim's family claimed that she was abducted on the evening of December 13 by a group led by Mohammad Ashiq, son of Nazrul Islam of North Nuniarchora. Later, on the night of December 15, she was dropped off in front of the house. The injured student was later admitted to the One Stop Crisis Center (OCC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.

After the incident, the student's father filed a complaint with the Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station mentioning the names of 5 people and police registered the case on December 18.

The accused are known members of an identified drug gang. A DB police operation in February this year recovered 1.4 million yaba from the accused's house along with two crore Taka.

The accused in the rape case are relatives of Faruk, a yaba smuggler. Shahina Akhtar, wife of Faruk, said Ashik had a love affair with the victim. Although they wanted to get married, the student's family did not agree.

Meanwhile, Shaheen, the manager of the residential hotel named Mams,  said that no one by that name was in the hotel room during that date.


He also said that although there was CCTV in the hotel, the footage of that date has been deleted.

Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police SI and the investigating officer of the case, Abdul Halim, said that the case is undergoing investigation. The accused could not be arrested as they were absconding. However, an operation is underway to arrest them.

Cox's Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police, Rafiqul Islam, said that at the moment he is busy with election work. However, he will take necessary steps to find out the culprits.

Earlier, RAB rescued a female tourist from Zia Guest Inn Hotel in Kolatali, Cox's Bazar on Wednesday. The woman alleged that she had been raped several times under the leadership of a young man named Ashiqul Islam Ashiq. Meanwhile, a case has been filed against 7 people by mentioning the names of four people in this incident. The court has remanded hotel manager Choton for four days.
