One to die, 3 to life term for killing Narail farmer

A Narail court sentenced a young man to death and three others to life imprisonment for killing a farmer named Mofi Sheikh in Bhabanipur village of Narail Sadar Upazila. Each of the convicts was also fined Tk 50,000.  

District and sessions judge Munshi Moshiar Rahman handed down the verdict on Tuesday. 

The condemned convict is Jaminur Rahman Mollah of the village. 

According to the case statement, Mofi Sheikh was returning home in Bhabanipur village with his minor son after collecting the child's stipend from school on July 18, 2016. When they reached Mathabhanga Bridge, the convicts killed him with sharp weapons.

Later, the victim's wife Rexona Khatun filed a complaint at Narail Sadar police station. Based on the complaint, an FIR was lodged by the police against six people. Two of the accused were acquitted during the trial.
